As Volunteers, We are overjoyed to share the moments of the auspicious re-inauguration of the sacred pilgrim place at Ambli Vali Pol in the Shahpur suburb of Ahmedabad.
Located to the east of River Sabarmati in the Old City area of Ahmedabad, Ambli Vali Pol is one of over 360 ‘pols’ — housing clusters that are accessed by a single entrance (known as ‘pratoli’ in Sanskrit) — that represent the tradition and culture of the past. Some of these ‘pols’ are over 400 years old.
Apart from creating modern spaces, we feel privileged that we are also a part of this historical project with the BAPS team.
We feel blessed that we got the chance for active participation in the planning & execution process of this project.
Our volunteer efforts to BAPS lead us to nurture and preserve the centuries-old rich heritage of Ahmedabad’s ‘Pol’ architecture & culture for generations to come.
Ambli Vali Pol has significant importance in the BAPS sect as it has witnessed the appointment of 28-year-old Narayanswarupdas Swami as the president of BAPS in 1950, whom the entire world reknown as ‘Pramukh Swami Maharaj’ today.
“In the joy of others lies our own.” – are not only the words of Pramukh Swami Maharaj but these are the words, he lived.
It is our devotion to the lotus feet of Pramukh Swami Maharaj on his centenary year, who has dedicated his entire life to the service of humanity.
